By applying a wide range of design and research frameworks I help companies improve their customer experiences.
Recently I have delivered foundation research to help shape the future of Scope (a national UK disability charity) and run design sprints to build the online appointment booking engine for Specsavers (one of the world’s largest opticians).

I am experienced in remote working with multidisciplinary, cross cultural teams.
My four principles of remote working are:
- Trust – build your team, do what you say
- Over communicate – communicate often and keep aligned
- Feedback – work together to help each other do better
- Be human – take the time to listen, connect and forge deeper relationships
At Zalando, a hugely impressive business with a massive growth mindset, teams were structured with end to end responsibility which meant individuals took ownership of their projects.
Part of my tenure there was to look at how to integrate Product Design within a large number of engineering teams who had little or no experience of working with designers.
Some questions we had were:
- How do we build a scalable design system?
- How do we build a design community where designers are working on their own within a larger team?
- How do we measure the success of integrating design?
- How do we educate teams on the value of design

Working within an agency requires the same skills as corporate work, however I have found these to be the most valuable…
- Be pragmatic about choices – keeping to budget and delivering on time
- Ability to communicate clearly – present with confidence and tell an engaging story
- Possess excellent soft skills – encouraging ego less collaboration in diverse teams – often with teams of multiple providers
I have helped deliver pitches, present and deliver solutions and run workshops on the behalf of agencies for clients such as Bentley, Crown Paints, Coventry Building Society, Triumph Motorcycles and Specsavers.
Do you have a pitch you need to win or deliver, contact me I will able to help.
One of the largest research projects I have been involved in is looking into the needs, experiences and emotions of disabled people in the UK (including parents of disabled children) as they interact with society and apply for Government benefits and services offered by local councils.
To do this hugely interesting project we adapted the excellent Jobs to Be Done framework. We uncovered global insights and audience specific insights. We were also able to prioritise topics and identify underserved needs, ideal areas for innovation.

Working with amazing people
Jonathon is an excellent UX Lead and someone who I very much enjoyed working with and having on the Biglight team. He consistently delivered a high standard of work for the client and did an awesome job at bringing the team together and initiating new collaborative lean UX approaches which raised the standard of the whole scrum team. His energy and passion for UX was clear for everyone to see and also very inspiring not just for the other UXers and Designers but also the client teams.
Working with Jonathon the last 6 months has been a great pleasure. Both professionally he excels at what he does and personally it was a lot of fun. I can wholeheartedly recommend him.
Jonathan is a great talent and a top asset to any organisation!
His unlimited enthusiasm and passion to build top class innovative products are a huge inspiration. He is a great team player who knows how to move an idea from sketch to product launch. His deep understanding of user research, interaction design and problem solving skills places him ahead of the team.
Jonathan has excellent presentation and organisational skills which makes him a great team leader. It was a great pleasure to work with him and looking forward to work with him again in future.
